Card Captain day 5: Coffee

Welcome to the last day of me being the card captain
on the Enjoy Michael Strong Stamp group.
Did you think when is the coffee card coming?
Well, I waited until the last day!

You find Michael Strong's coffee stamp here.

I enter my card for the color and sketch challenge

So I started this card bij stamping the coffee steam
with versamark ink and embossed this with white
embossing powder.

You can see the steam white on white.
With salty ocean distress oxide ink and a blending
tool i colored all of the background. When finished
I took a paper towel to rub of the ink of the steam.

Then with blueprint sketch I stamped the steam again
on top of the lighter blue background.

The sentiment  by Your Next Stamp (from a set that is
not available anymore, but with wonderful sentiments)
is stamped with versifine ink. YNS has many other
wonderful coffee stamps that you can find HERE.

With washi tape I marked the lines as in the sketch.

And here are the mini coffee cups. Stamped on blue
paper and embossed in white.

After cutting them out, I added them to the card,
each with a little pearl on top.
I also want to let you know that soon there is another
coffee blog hop again with lots of wonderful prizes.
So keep on the look out on the
(also if you love tea!).

Thank you for looking
and have a creative day!

Card Captain day 4: Turtle

Welcome for day 4 of me being the card captain for
the Enjoy Michael Strong Stampgroup.
On Thursday we always share a technique.
This is no special technique, but I want to
show you how I build this background panel.

This is what I used:
turtle stamps by Michael Strong
sentiment from stash (not sure of brand)
stencil
various colors distress oxide inks
gesso
acrylic distress paint
distress crayons
distress spray
black versafine stamping pad

First I cut a white piece of cardstock 4x5 inch.
Next I took this sea bubble stencil from my stash
and randomly added the white gesso with a brush.

After taking the stencil of you see the bubbles here and there.
Now leave this to dry of use heat gun.

Next  adding a few drops of light blue acrylic
(distress) paint and smear it out with your fingers
on a few places.

Then i added 2 colors of distress crayons (but I am sure
watercolor crayons or oil pastel crayons also have a
great effect). Smear it out with your fingers.
Just a few places not all over the card.

Next spray broken china distress spray on the card
and let it dry.

With a paper towel rub over the dots you made
with the gesso, this way the show more.

Take the stencil again and a darker blue ink
to make some more bubbles.

See here the result of all the layers.

On top of all these layers you stamp the seaweed
that comes with the turtle stamp with black ink.
Now your back panel is finished.

Stamp the turtle with dark green in (forrest moss)
and also use it for coloring the turtle.

For the shield I also used cracked pistachio ink.
Then i cut the turtle with scissors and added a
few pieces of foam tape to the back.

The sentiment was stamped on a seperate piece of
paper and colored with the same inks and crayons.
Of course I added a little bubbles with the stencil.

In the end iIadded a little blue glitter glue
to the shield of the turtle, but you do not
see that well enough on the picture.

Thank you for looking
and have a creative day!

Card Captain day 3: Giraffe

Welcome to day 3 of me being the card captain for the
Enjoy Michael Strong stamps group.
I keep to wild animals and her is Mike's

The sentiment is a digital stamp printed with
the computer and is from the Create with TLC Blog.

And now I show you how  the card is made.
I started with folding a piece of kraft cardstock and
embossed the front side with this sizzix embossing folder.

Next I stamped the giraffe on a piece of white paper
and just the head on a strip of lighter kraft paper
with walnut stain distress oxide ink.

With peeled paint distress oxide ink I stamped the
acacia leave that belongs to this stampset.

With fossilized amber distress oxide  ink on
the craft sheet and a waterbrush (and a few drops
of water) I colored all the giraffes.

Now the giraffe and the leaves are cut out and
everything is coming together on the card.
Inside the card there is also a leave and I will ad one
to the enveloppe as well.

Thank you for looking
and have a creative day!

Card Captain day 2: For the boys.

Day 2 of being the card captain in the
Enjoy Michael Strong group.
This card is also for the challenge
The theme is: For the Boys.

My grandson loves wild animals
like lions and elephants. He is going to
school to learn to read and write after the
Summer, so I am keeping this for him.
I made the background with the direct to paper
technique and these two colors of distress oxide ink.
Start by adding the ink to the craft sheet
and spray a few drops of water on it.

Take the background panel and rub it over the craft
sheet to pick up the ink. You can do it a fewtimes until
you are satisfied with the result. Let the panel dry.

In the mean time I stamped the elephant (by Michael Strong)
in hickory smoke oxide distress ink.

Then cutting out the elephant and punching out
the printed sentiment.
Now that the panel is dry I stamped some flowers
on it that go with the elephant stamp set. For this
I used the hickory smoke oxide distress ink again.
After assembling the card I finished of with
a few black sequins.
The sentiment is by Create with TLC.

Thank you for looking
and have a creative day!

Card Captain day 1: Art with a heart

This week you will see a lot of Michael Strong stamps on my
cards, for I am card captain on the Enjoy Michael Strong group.
This means I will share 5 cards for inspiration. One card a
day until Friday.

I will try to make some simple cards you all can  case
with any stamp and not to much materials.

For this card you start making the red stripe
by using two post-it notes and leaving a
2 inch gap.

With candied apple oxide distress ink I colored the
2 inch gap between the post-it notes.

Before removing the post-it notes I added
a couple of drops of water.

Dab the drops with a paper towel.

The sentiment (by Penny Black) is added on
the strip with my misty, to make sure it is on straight.

With Mike's mini heart stamp embossed
with gold embossing powder the card is finished.

Thanks for looking
and have a creative day!
